Luxury triumphs on the Amalfi coast. A new, magnificent annexe stands in the lush park of the Santa Caterina Hotel in Amalfi: the Villa Il Rosso. Inside the Villa are two suites on the ground floor and two deluxe rooms on the first floor, all with balconies overlooking the garden and the splendid blue waters of the Gulf. The Santa Caterina Hotel, a celebrated 5 star luxury hotel on the Amalfi coast, has a total of 36 standard, superior and deluxe rooms, and 13 suites including junior suites, executive junior suites, suites and senior deluxe suites, all in the main building, as well as a further 17 rooms and suites distributed between the Garden Suite, the “Villa Santa Caterina” annexe, and now the “Villa il Rosso” annexe.
The four new rooms and suites are spacious and bright, with large windows screened with soft, white blinds topped with hazel-coloured valances. The contemporary furnishings reflect the famous style, class, and hospitality offered by Santa Caterina, with white and pastel colours predominating. There are frequent references to local tradition, from the classic whitewashed low-vaulted ceilings, supported at the corners by pillars, to the plain or decorated light blue Vietri tiles, and from the decorative plaster-work to the details on the simple external facade. The furniture consists of comfortable sofas and armchairs in white upholstery, antique desks, and beds made up with all-white bed linen and multicoloured pillows, with padded bed heads in broad, vertical white and ivory stripes inside handmade ceramic frames. Some details stand out for their modernity, for example, the crystal glass chairs and the brightly coloured abstract paintings, but then you come across an antique armchair or another piece of authentic antique furniture. The hotel is lit with effect lighting. The bathrooms are beautifully arranged, with large showers. In keeping with the latest hotel trends, the large whirlpool baths are set directly inside the rooms. The top quality equipment includes satellite TV with plasma screen (46” in the suites) and incorporated DVD and internet access (ADSL). The balconies of all the rooms enjoy a marvellous view, one of the most beautiful in the world. The garden is all around, sloping down in a series of terraces spilling over with lush Mediterranean vegetation towards the cobalt sea, and permeated by the scents of orange blossom and lemon trees. It is a place of incomparable beauty that sates the eyes as it does the spirit. Located just a few minutes from Amalfi, in one of the most beautiful spots on the coast, the Hotel Santa Caterina stands high up above the sea, in a huge estate that drops steeply down to the water in a series of splendid natural terraces. There are two lifts excavated from the rock, as well as a spectacularly beautiful path, to take guests down through the citrus groves and flourishing garden to the facilities at sea level, which include a salt water pool, solarium, fitness centre, café/bar and open air restaurant. Built in 1880 by the Gambardella family, which still manages it, the Hotel Santa Caterina has 36 standard, superior and deluxe rooms and 13 suites, including junior suites, executive junior suites, suites and senior deluxe suites in the main building. In addition, there are a further 17 rooms and suites distributed between the Garden Suite and annexes, including both the “Villa Santa Caterina” and the very recently acquired “Villa il Rosso”, all in the luxuriant park. The hotel also has a boutique, a gym and a Spa.The Santa Caterina restaurant makes a striking impression of ethereal elegance, with windows overlooking the panorama of the gulf, and a lapis lazuli coloured floor. The daily menu offered by its internationally renowned kitchens provides a huge à la carte selection, including some fine traditional recipes. The Wine List offers a carefully chosen selection of Italian and foreign wines, including selected wines from the Campania area. At the international level, the Santa Caterina is up there in the hotel world’s Hall of Fame, as is well known by the film stars, VIPs, royalty and heads of state who regularly stay there. The Santa Caterina is in the 5 star luxury category and is now a member of The Leading Small Hotels of the World. It received an exceptional rating in the Condé Nast Traveller Gold List, with a top ranking of 97.7 for its restaurant, putting it among the very best in Europe. Hotel Santa Caterina, S.S.
